About Us Works & Shop Symbolism Calendar

The ancient folk art, Chinese knotting, unite with sculpt jade, has been existed in Chinese daily life as jewelry, accessories and home deco for more than a thousand years.  Enlightened by art class introducing Chinese knotting back in high school, Theresa and Rebekka, two best friends since junior high, have been appreciating the beauty of Chinese knotting and the unique characters of jade stone since then.

Believing that this unique ancient folk art can blend into nowadays modern fashion and embellish our attire, Theresa and Rebekka established Han Jewel and began to introduce their works in San Francisco Bay Area in the summer of year 2003.  The great level of acceptance on Chinese knotting jade jewelry in Bay area has definitely given this business endeavor more confidence on creating and presenting more works to the western society.

To bring more varieties to people who love Asian accents jewelries, Han Jewel has invited Cherie Chou, Wen-Shin Shu and Ya-Feng Chou to join its design team in 2006.

With family's business in fine-jewelry for more than four decades, Cherie has been surrounded by beautiful jewelries since she was a kid.  Although studying in architecture and earned a degree, Cherie could not help but keep coming out new designs for jewelry pi eces.  After working in the architectural field for three years, Cherie decided to stay in the jewelry design world.   With her architectural background and enthusiasm in Chinese relics, Cherie's works have shown us another kind of fusion between materials and colors.  Various natural stones, coral, mother pearl, antique/archaize antique sliver, sandalwood, bamboo, silk, gold foil, cloisonné and enamel pi eces can all be found in her graceful and defined designs.

Wen-Shin just loves to knots.  We are fond of her capabilities of putting different kinds of knots in one work, and utilizing only one kind of knot to create pi eces that are out of our imagination.  With passion to merge Chinese knotting folk art with contemporary designs, Wen-Shin's works are easy to collocate with our everyday apparel.

Ya-Feng, the co-author of the Chinese books "The Beauty of Jade" and "Knotting Designs vs. Jade, Silver and Gemstone", has been devoting in the knotting world for more than 20 years.  Ya-Feng is a descendant of  Yi minority tribe.  Yi minority tribe is known for using Tibet sliver and bright colors on their accessories and clothing.  Ya-Feng has inherited Yi tribe's characters, and we will see Yi tribe's nationality in her works.

Like Cherie said "Diamond jewelry is not the only jewelry that will shine, a pi ece with simplest material like wood can be sparkle."  And this is the kind of jewelry Han Jewel is dedicated to bring.
